Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter

I’ve been on the lookout for a hydrating lipstick for such a long time as in the past most lipsticks I’ve tried have been extremely drying, which isn’t helpful considering my lips have the tendency to be dry anyway. I’d heard amazing reviews of the Revlon lip butters from the US so I was excited to finally get my hand on some!

The two colours I picked up were number 005 in Sugar Frosting and number 055 in Cupcake. Sugar Frosting is a sheer nude and Cupcake is bright light pink. The application is beautiful, it just glides on your lips and is instantly moisturising. Although some colours come out sheer you can build them up by applying more coats to your lips leaving a shiny, healthy finish. The staying power of these lip balms is about one to two hours, but with such an easy application they are quick to apply on the go without the hassle of needing a mirror! However! They do have a tendency to melt easily so be careful where you store them!

Left: Sugar Frosting. Right: Cupcake.

Although not as affordable as they are in the states at £7.99, I still feel for a drug store brand you definitely get what you pay for and these amazing quality. Definitely going to be adding some more to my collection! :)

St Tropez Everyday Gradual Tan Mousse

The sun has got its hat on and it feels like summer’s finally underway here in the UK. However, instead of getting my tan off to an early start before my holiday rolls around, I have been stuck at work during this beautiful weather :(.

I was recently in one of the John Lewis stores in London and spotted St Tropez with a 10% off discount. I’ve never been a fan of the gradual tanners I tried before as they always go streaky, patchy, look orange or smell terrible. However, since payday had just rolled around I decided to treat myself and purchased the everyday gradual tanning mousse (£20.34/120ml).

After doing the necessary preparation, exfoliating and moisturising, I applied the mousse with a tanning mitt from top to bottom and left to dry. I repeated this everyday for 4/5 days until I had an amazing, even golden glow. The mousse is infused with conditioning aloe vera and promises to give you a natural looking tan which absorbs in one or two minutes. I can agree with all of the previous points. After applying my skin felt soft and moisturised, it dried in just a few minutes (didn’t stain any of my clothes or bed sheets) and gave me an even tan with no streaks or patches.

However, there were some downsides. Although it claims to have been developed without the “tell-tale tanning aroma”, I still felt that there was definitely a scent to it and even though it wasn’t that horrible wet biscuit-y smell, it was still obvious and didn’t go until I showered the next morning. The only other issue I had with the mousse was the fact that it comes out white and goes onto your skin clear so it can be hard to see where you have applied it and where you’ve missed. In order to save embarrassing missed patches I had to apply extra using up a lot more of the product than necessary.

On the whole, even though there were downsides, they weren’t major problems which put me 100% off the product and I will be repurchasing in the future. You definitely get what you pay for!

OPI New York City Ballet Collection

After being impressed with the OPI Holland mini nail polish set I recently purchased the OPI NYC Ballet Petites nail polish set. The mini set contains 4 of the 6 polishes in the collection and has 3 sheer pastels and one clear nail varnish with micro-glitter and larger glitter pieces.

The polishes which this set come with are My Pointe Exactly – a sheer grey, Don’t Touch My Tutu! – a sheer white, Care to Danse? – a pale lilac and Pirouette My Whistle – a clear glitter polish which looks amazing over any of the other colours.

From left to right - My Pointe Exactly, Don't Touch My Tutu!, Care to Danse? and Pirouette My Whistle
As with all other OPI nail polishes these are of such an amazing quality and last up to a week on my nails. The only downside is you have to apply 3-4 coats of the polish for the colour to show up on your nails, but the results are beautiful. I feel like these polishes are ideal for summer and are going to look amazing with a tan :)

Carmex Moisture Plus

Although I’ve always found the Carmex lips products moisturising, I’ve never been a fan of the minty tingly sensation and that’s always put me off using them often. However, I’d heard good things about their new Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm and decided to give it a go. This new lip balm comes in either a clear colour or with a peach or pink sheer tint.

£4.49 - Boots
I went for the peach tinted balm to give my lips a little bit of colour without being over the top. I was pleasantly surprised when I gave this product a go for the first time. My lips felt extremely moisturised and it gave a lovely colour to my lips which lasted for hours! The balm still had the minty sensation there but I don’t feel that it was as overpowering as other Carmex products and didn’t last for long. With SPF15 this product is definitely going to be one of my staple products for the summer months ahead! :)
