Benefit’s “How To Look The Best At Everything”

Benefit has recently released a new flawless makeup complexion kit, which I think are ideal presents with Christmas just around the corner. The new kits are called “How To Look The Best At Everything” and come in 3 different shades, light, medium and deep. Considering I have extremely fair skin, especially in the winter months, I picked up the kit in light.

£24.50
The kit comes with sample sizes of some of Benefits most well known and best selling products:
  • The Porefessional – A balm primer used to minimise the appearance of pores.
  • Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow – Benefit’s most recent brightening foundation in the shade Champagne.
  • Boi-ing Concealer – Industrial-strength concealer in shades 01 and 02.
  • Hello Flawless – Powder used to either set foundation or as light coverage itself, also in the shade Champagne.
Within the kit is also a small powder brush, a mirror and a fold out instruction guide on how to use each of the items included.

Overall I think that this kit is fantastic in giving you the chance to try out some of Benefits products if you have never used them before. I would say the products I use the most are the Boi-ing concealers, which I mix together to create the perfect shade to cover my dark under eye circles and the POREfessional primer, which I use under my makeup to ensure that my makeup stays put all day and it noticeably minimises my pores. However, I haven’t really been using the foundation or the powder as, although this is meant to be targeted for light shades, I find that the shade provided is too dark for me and makes me look orangey.  I will definitely give them another chance come spring/summer next year.

Have any of you tried out this kit? What did you think?

Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets

I wanted to share with you a little find of mine, which has now become a handbag stable for me! Over the last few months my skin has gone from extremely dry to oily. I’ve never had to deal with oily skin before so when I started getting shiny after a couple of hours, even when using oil free products, I didn’t want to start slapping powder on and making my skin cakey. I popped into Superdrug and found these little beauties.

These are the Kleenex Shine Absorbing sheets and for £2.99, currently on offer for £1.49, the pack contains 50 shine absorbing sheets. Yup, 50 sheets! These sheets effectively remove excess shine which has built up during the day, simply by blotting the problem areas. The feature which attracted me to these blotting sheets over others, except for the price, is the fact that they are powder free blotting sheets. This means that they remove the shine without disturbing your makeup or adding extra powder.

I’ve been using these over the last month and they have successfully helped me to keep the shine at bay!

Have any of you used this product? What are your tips for keeping oily skin under control?

Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask – Peel Off Passion

After reading about this brand of face masks on Hollie Bradbury’s blog, (http://www.goodgollymisshollie.com/) a couple of months ago, I went out to Superdrug and picked up a few of the sachets. I tried about every type of the sachets they have available, from mud masks, to peel off masks. I popped into Superdrug again around a month or so ago to pick up some more, but instead of finding the sachets I discovered these new tubes of their face masks.

The one I chose is the Passion Peel Off in Pomegranate and Passion Flower. This face mask is designed to deep clean your pores and contains anti-oxidants that help to protect the skin. To use this mask you simply apply a thin layer over dry freshly washed skin and leave on your face for around 10 minutes, or until the mask is completely dry. You can usually tell when it is getting to this point because your face starts to harden with the mask. You then peel the dried mask off your face and wash your face with warm water to remove any remaining residue.

I absolutely love the way this mask makes my skin feeling after using it. My skin feels squeaky clean, smooth to touch and my pores look visibly reduced. It also has a lovely fruity/floral scent. Within the tube is 80ml of the product and since I use this only once a week, it has lasted me a long time so far, but I will be looking to try others when it runs out!

Have any of you tried these face masks? What are your favourite?

O.P.I Nail Envy – Matte

My nails have been driving me absolutely crazy over the last year and a half and no matter what strengthening polishes I have used, from a variety of brands, nothing has helped. Due to having to wash my hands numerous times of day at work my nails had gotten extremely thin, I could bend them in half and they were breaking easily. BUT a month or so ago my boyfriend’s sister overhead me complaining about my nails and introduced me to THE most amazing nail product I have used and is now my holy grail product.

TA-DAA

The holy grail product I am talking about it O.P.I’s Nail Envy! I’m aware that they do quite a range of products in the Nail Envy collection, but the one I use is Nail Envy Matte. In my current job you are not supposed to wear nail polish, but since this one gives a matte finish, no one can tell...shhhh! :) The main purpose of this polish is to strengthen your nails, although when I am painting my nails a different colour I use this as a base coat. When you first apply this polish to your nails you apply two coats and then one coat every other day for a week, then you remove the layers and start again. I did find that after you’re up to 3 or 4 coats it does start peeling/chipping off, so I tend to start again every 4 days, rather than leaving it for a week.

Although this is on the pricey side of £18.55, I feel like this is the only polish that has actually done what it claims to do. My nails are now rock solid, they don’t bend and because of this they are growing amazingly well! Worth the splurge in my opinion!

Do any of you have this nail problem? What products do you use to help?
